Attorney Matthew Paré represents both plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation matters in federal and state courts. The creation of his law firm followed numerous exceptional academic accomplishments and work experiences. Originally from Orono, Maine, Mr. Paré attended college and earned a B.S. and M.A. in psychology from Northeastern University and American University, where he graduated at the top of his class.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Paré worked in politics and continues to have a strong interest in civic life and the political process. For law school, Mr. Paré attended California Western School of Law in San Diego where he was offered a scholarship. He graduated magna cum laude in May 2008, finishing in the top five percent of the graduating class. While in law school, Mr. Paré served as Editor of the California Western Law Review/International Law Journal. Mr. Paré was also one of only two student representatives chosen from the law school to be a part of the American Inns of Court.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Mr. Paré gained invaluable practical experience while in law school by serving as a Judicial Extern at the Superior Court of California, San Diego County. Mr. Paré also worked for a variety of private civil litigation law firms during law school. Immediately after passing the bar Mr. Paré started working for a personal injury law firm in San Diego for the first year of his law practice, where he was able to resolve numerous personal injury cases as well as some business litigation matters.
In order to focus exclusively on his clients and provide the best service possible, Mr. Paré soon opened the Law Office of Matthew Paré, where he continues to represent plaintiffs who have been injured due to the negligence or reckless of others. In addition, Mr. Paré has become the preeminent national expert on a very specialized area of the law, namely defending clients in television signal piracy cases.
Mr. Paré developed his specialty and focus on television signal piracy cases when a family friend who owned a restaurant was sued for allegedly showing a pay-per-view boxing match without paying for it. Mr. Paré soon discovered that literally thousands of people were being sued based upon similar allegations. The defendants are generally small bars and privately owned restaurants that are accused of stealing a television signal and displaying UFC fights or boxing matches in a commercial setting without paying for the right to do so. Surprisingly, there were no attorneys specializing in this area of the law to effectively defend these clients so Mr. Paré has taken up this cause, soon becoming the top expert in defending television signal piracy cases. Shortly after developing this specialty Mr. Paré began representing numerous such clients, and one such case was written about in a newspaper. Since that time Mr. Paré has become the preeminent expert in that area of the law, successfully defending many such clients.
Shortly after Mr. Paré opened his own law firm he also prevailed in a week-long jury trial in a personal injury case, and therefore has the experience and willingness to take cases to trial if necessary. He brings with him to his law practice his exceptional drive, work habits, life history of achievement, and passion for service in helping others.
